For the safety of your child and the staff:
EVERYONE MUST SIGN-IN AT THE FRONT OFFICE AND PUT ON A VISITOR’S STICKER EVERY TIME THEY ENTER KEHELEY.
I. MEET WITH YOUR TEACHER: Set up a meeting with your teachers and discuss what their needs are from you and other parents in your class. Sometimes an entire grade’s teachers and room reps can meet at the same time, so check with your teachers to see if they want to meet individually or as a grade. Obtain their phone number and keep it CONFIDENTIAL!! ALWAYS CHECK WITH THE TEACHERS BEFORE YOU PLAN ANY EVENT!!
II. FORMS: Each form that you receive in your folder and is listed in our forms section has been pre-approved by our principal. If you want to send home a letter other than what we have provided for you, you must first have it approved.
III. INTRODUCE YOURSELF: Some teachers have a form that they send home asking parents to sign up to help in various ways. If not, we encourage you to send home a letter introducing yourself and asking parents to check off any areas where they are willing to help [Go to Room Rep Forms].
As you are calling parents to work in the classroom, please remind them that infants, toddlers, and preschoolers should not be in the classroom during the school day. It is distracting for the students and the teachers will understand parents having a small child will not able to volunteer to work in the classroom. This is a Cobb County policy. Siblings are welcome to attend assemblies in which their brother/sister is performing or to have lunch with them when accompanied by a parent.
IV.CLASS LIST: A class list should be published for each class. However, parental permission must be obtained before you distribute the list [Go to Room Rep Forms]. There is a list of students in your folder, so send out a permission form to each of them that has not already turned in this permission form. Please distribute the finalized list to your class by SEPTEMBER 9TH.
V. TEACHER BIRTHDAYS: Room reps are not to arrange a party or event for their teacher’s birthday, but if you would like to send a note to your class that lets them know that their birthday is coming up, that is fine [Go to Room Rep Forms]. You can send out their “Teacher Interest Survey” so everyone knows what they like or you can choose a theme so everyone can bring one small item to fill a “theme basket.” And of course, teachers love to get cards so you can even have everyone send this in. Regardless of how you decide to recognize them, we must not interrupt classroom time for this occasion.
VI. MATH MADNESS: Math Madness is not being held school-wide this year, so check with your teacher to see if they plan on having it. If so, they can tell you how many volunteers they will need each month.
VII. FALL FESTIVAL: Keheley’s Fall Festival will be held on Friday, October 14th. Each class needs volunteers to help during the event [Go to Room Rep Forms]. Start recruiting as soon as possible, but be sure to call your volunteers before the event as a reminder.
VIII. HOLIDAY PARTY: Holiday parties will be held in December. Check with your teachers for date. Once you talk to the teachers at your grade level about how they want to run the Holiday Party, come up with a budget that will work for your team. Then, at the beginning of December send a letter home with each student asking for donations for the holiday party [Go to Room Rep Forms]. There is a maximum allowed to ask per student. All of the money collected must be used for the holiday party (crafts, party favors, treats, etc….)
If you would like to collect money for a collective teacher gift from the class, you may do so. Simply use the holiday form with the section for a teacher gift. If you do not plan on collecting money, please use the holiday form without the section for teacher gift [Go to Room Rep Forms].
IX. STAFF APPRECIATION: This year we will celebrate Staff Appreciation Week the week of March 5th through 10th. Our traditional luncheon will be held for the staff on Wednesday, March 7th in the Media Center, during their lunch period. To allow for a more leisurely lunch for your teacher, please arrange for someone to walk the class back from lunch and tend to them for about 30 minutes.
In addition to the luncheon, it has been our tradition to provide a light breakfast on Monday and Friday of Staff Appreciation Week. Each grade level will help to provide breakfast on these days. More details will be sent as it gets closer.
Thank you in advance for your help and support. If you have any questions, needs or suggestions please feel free to contact us.
Thank you,
